Frédéric is gespecialiseerd in grensoverschrijdende insolventie en herstructurering en heeft een prominente rol gespeeld in de meest complexe en grensoverschrijdende zaken van de afgelopen jaren. Frédéric werkt in een breed scala van insolventie- en herstructureringssituaties, hetzij vanuit het perspectief van de schuldeiser (obligatiehouder), hetzij vanuit het perspectief van de schuldenaar en de onderneming.

Hij treedt regelmatig op als curator in faillissementsprocedures en als bewindvoerder of waarnemer in herstructureringsprocedures zoals de WHOA-procedure.

Recente opmerkelijke zaken waren onder meer Steinhoff, Vroon Shipping, Farfetch, Lehman Brothers, Swissport, Hudson’s Bay, Oi, OSX / OGX, Swissair en DSB Bank.

Frédéric is lid van de adviesraad van Houthoff.

Recent Werk

Advised Unigel Participações S.A. and certain subsidiaries on the successful completion of a cross-border restructuring involving over USD 800 million in debt. This restructuring led to new investments, bonds, convertible bonds, and Dutch depositary receipts for shares in Unigel's Dutch parent company.

Acting as court appointed bankruptcy trustee of DSB Bank, Houthoff continued to unwind the legacy of the failed bank following the settlement agreement made with claimants regarding overcharged premiums and interest obligations.

Advised the ad hoc group of secured lenders to Tupperware Brands Corporation in connection with the Chapter 11 case of Tupperware Brands and its subsidiaries filed in Wilmington, Delaware. Houthoff advised the ad hoc group, among other things, in connection with the Dutch law aspects of the acquisition and of global rights to the Tupperware brand, intellectual property and operations in key markets pursuant to a sale authorized under section 363 by the Delaware Bankruptcy Court.

Advised the Municipality of Amsterdam in relation to the financial restructuring of its 100% subsidiary AEB (Amsterdamse Afval Energie Bedrijf).

Advising DSB on the distribution (and its preparation of that) of approximately EUR 650 million estate surplus to more than 280,000 interest claimants, consisting of former DSB account holders and the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) as administrator of the deposit guarantee scheme.

Acted as one of two court-appointed observers in the Dutch restructuring scheme ("WHOA") of Steinhoff International Holdings N.V.

Advised the ad hoc group of creditors to the Consolis group, a leading European leader in precast concrete solutions for the construction and utilities sectorsin the successful implementation of its comprehensive recapitalization
