Willem is gespecialiseerd in ondernemingsrecht, corporate governance en (strategische en grensoverschrijdende) fusies en overnames tussen strategische bedrijven en vaak in de financiële en energy sector. Hij adviseert zowel beursgenoteerde als niet-beursgenoteerde ondernemingen, financiële instellingen en overheden over een breed scala aan ondernemingsrechtelijke zaken. Hij heeft ervaring met het oplossen van ingewikkelde situaties voor bestuurders en commissarissen, vijandige overnames en bedrijven in moeilijkheden. Willem was docent aan de Law Firm School en is docent corporate governance aan de TIAS business school, verbonden aan de Universiteit van Tilburg. Ook publiceert hij regelmatig over zijn vakgebied en heeft hij een boek over corporate governance en de Nederlandse structuurregeling op zijn naam staan. Willem was van 2015 tot 2021 voorzitter van de Raad van Advies van Houthoff.

InsingerGilissen Bankiers N.V. ("InsingerGilissen") and Lombard Odier (Europe) S.A. ("Lombard Odier") have entered into an agreement with regard to the acquisition by InsingerGilissen of Lombard Odier's Dutch private banking business.
