Deglobalisation Dialogue
The Deglobalisation Dialogue is an event organised by Houthoff in collaboration with the General Counsel Netherlands (GCN) network on 19 May 2025 at Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam.
Navigating rapidly shifting geopolitical relations and market uncertainty requires a sharp vision. But how do you adjust your corporate strategy when the pressures of deglobalisation increases and long-standing certainties seem to lose their value?
Charles Smit, Associate Partner at FGS Hague Corporate Affairs, a world leader in communications and public affairs and former Head of Corporate Affairs at Nexperia, will provide insightful ideas on how to cope with the complexities we all face. ''General Counsels have the responsibility to enhance their company’s ability to cope with growing geopolitical uncertainties.''
After the keynote there will be a range of roundtable dialogues about the potential impact of deglobalisation and the general counsel's role, including:
- Governance and corporate culture: Is the “global company” concept in danger?
- Innovation: Can I continue to work with existing universities and other innovation partners?
- Navigating conflict: Practical strategies for prevention and resolution of disputes.
- Stakeholder management: How do I make sure my voice is heard by decision makers?
- Strategy and risks: How to adapt the strategy process to deal with the increasing and less predictable impact of geopolitics?
- Supply chain risks: Do I need to change locations, materials or equipment to satisfy geopolitical demand?
Following the round-table dialogues, there will be opportunities for networking during the closing reception.
