Houthoff welcomes Yvo de Vries as new EU and Competition partner

On 1 June 2023, Yvo de Vries (49) will join Houthoff's EU and Competition practice groups.
Yvo has extensive experience with merger control, cartel investigations, State aid and broader EU law. He regularly litigates before the Dutch and EU courts.
"With Yvo, we are adding a strong and seasoned lawyer to our firm. Our joint knowledge, experience and network will give us an excellent basis from which to firmly grow our competition practice. We will be working on these plans for growth together with Gerrit Oosterhuis," says Weijer VerLoren van Themaat, partner and head of Competition at Houthoff.
After nearly a decade in the legal profession (from 1997 to 2007), Yvo took up a position with the national government, where he was responsible for pleading the Netherlands' arguments before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. From 2010 to 2016, he worked as a senior antitrust director at Philips. In 2016, he returned to the legal profession, joining Allen & Overy's Antitrust and Competition practice in Amsterdam as a partner.
