The bill on the Future of Pensions Act (Wet toekomst pensioenen) grants supervisory boards a right of consent regarding the conversion of accrued entitlements and rights. Compared with the earlier consultation version of the bill, this will provide better safeguards to compensate for the lack of a right of consent of members, former members, partners and pension beneficiaries on this point.

In the June 2022 issue of pension journal Pensioen Bestuur & Management, Roland de Greef explained the role and position of supervisory boards at pension funds, discussed other forms of internal supervision at pension funds, and explained what additional role supervisory boards will have when the Future of Pensions Act comes into force on 1 July 2023.
