Highlights of the Environment and Planning Act
The Environment and Planning Act (Omgevingswet, or EPA) has entered into force on 1 January 2024. The EPA combines multiple previous environmental laws and regulations, on topics such as construction, spatial planning, water and nature. The EPA impacts the (re)development of real estate, regulatory obligations for industrial activities and the realisation of infrastructural and energy projects.
In the EPA highlights factsheet, we discuss the main changes brought about by the EPA and its additional decrees such as the replacement of zoning plans by environmental plans, the project decision for complex projects and the central role of the different duties of care.
