New set of EU measures announced for the agricultural sector
14 March 2025
Items such as ensuring a fair standard of living for producers and profitability along the agri-food value chain are high on the European Commission's agenda, as is also evident from a recently announced package of measures. This package includes a proposal to amend the Regulation establishing a common market organisation ("CMO Regulation") to enable non-recognised producer organisations to conduct price negotiations on behalf of their members. In addition, a new Regulation is proposed to give national authorities more tools to address cross-border unfair trading practices in the agricultural sector. And finally, the European Commission has raised the threshold for financial support that public authorities can give farms without prior consent.
In this publication, our experts discuss the changes to the CMO Regulation and the proposal for a new Regulation on cross-border unfair trading practices. In addition, they address the revision of the Agricultural De Minimis Regulation and the recently established European Board on Agriculture and Food.
