Houthoff celebrates Amsterdam's 750th anniversary with the A10 Anniversary Forest

11 April 2025

Amsterdam is a city infused with creativity, innovation and inspiring ideas. At the same time, relaxation and enjoyable living should also have a place. That is why we, alongside other Amsterdam businesses and organisations, support the powerful initiative Op de Ring. During the Op de Ring festival on 21 June 2025, a part of the A10 motorway will be transformed into a forest for one day, with 750 large trees and 7,500 small trees: the Anniversary Forest (Verjaardagsbos, website in Dutch). The trees are a gift to commemorate Amsterdam's 750th anniversary.

For a greener future

In a space where cars usually dominate the rush of traffic, people of all ages in Amsterdam can spend a day being inspired and rejuvenated in our forest. This way, everyone can discover the benefits a forest can offer. The Anniversary Forest is a unique place with a clear message: Amsterdam can and must become greener. The initiative marks the beginning of a long-term effort to enhance the greenery in and around Amsterdam. After the festival, all the trees will get a permanent spot in and around the city, with an additional 75,000 trees being planted in the region. Thus, the Anniversary Forest will continue to grow, paving the way for a greener future.
